Aside from being a go-to topping for your toast, avocado carries far more benefits than being the highlight of your Sunday brunch entree. In fact, when used topically, the benefits are transformative for your skin. That’s exactly why we bottled up the magic of their nutrient-rich polyphenols (AKA naturally occurring compounds found in plants that can act as antioxidants) for our eye and lip cream. Before we get into that, though, let’s break down the benefits.
1. Nourish & moisturize
Rich in vitamins and fatty acids, avocados work wonders to not only hydrate skin but also minimize water loss and balance moisture.
2. Depuff & inhibit inflammation
Avocado polyphenols help to inhibit inflammation by increasing microcirculation. In doing so, they help to depuff under-eye bags for a more rested, radiant complexion.
3. Minimize dark circles
These natural substances also help to regulate melanin production to help lighten the appearance of unwanted discoloration, including dark circles.
4. Soften & smooth
By helping to boost collagen production, avocado polyphenols dramatically reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles by softening their appearance over time.
5. Soothe & heal
Beyond its hydrating and anti-aging benefits, avocados also play a protective role, helping to calm and repair skin while further preventing damage from free radicals and UV radiation.
How We Do It Sustainably
As with all of our ingredients, the avocado polyphenols in our Reflekt 4 Smoothing Squalane Eye & Lip Treatment Cream are intentionally chosen. These powerful, natural extracts of ours come from upcycled avocados that have been sustainably sourced from South America. By “upcycled,” we mean that we take unsellable avocados (ones that are overripe, damaged, or too “ugly” to sell) and give them a second chance to deliver all their benefits.
Since these misfit avocados can still provide transformative benefits, they’re perfect for use in skincare. Working in tandem with Arabian jasmine and hawthorn extracts, vitamin C, and squalane, our avocado polyphenols do all of the above so the areas around your eyes and lips are left brighter, smoother, and more hydrated.
