Nowadays, everyone and their TikTok-having teenagers believe they are skincare professionals. When it comes to truly taking care of your skin, though, you should only trust the experts and our founder has decades of knowledge. From having laid on the beds of some of Hollywood’s best celebrity estheticians to formulating and testing her own products with some of the world’s most renowned chemists, she knows a thing or two about skincare.
Below, Nancy answers five of your most commonly asked questions, so you can successfully level up your skincare game.
- How should I layer skincare?
I strongly believe less is more. Using fewer effective products is more beneficial than layering a dozen, that’s why the Reflekt regimen only includes the four essentials. To begin, you’ll use a face wash to cleanse your face and rid the skin of any dirt, debris, and excess oil that may prevent the skin from absorbing subsequent products — or worse, cause clogged pores. I must say, I can’t live without our Reflekt 1 because of this. It gently exfoliates while simultaneously hydrating so your skin is left perfectly prepped for the other steps. Next, you’ll want to add a serum that targets your specific skin concerns. For me, I prefer Reflekt 2 as it brightens and refines with vitamin C. Then, you’ll pat on your moisturizer for deep hydration and replenishment. For the morning regimen, I add a bit of SPF to the Reflekt 3 on my fingertips and apply it all over my face, neck, and décolletage for one easy step (it helps with sunscreen absorption, too). Finally, once completely absorbed, you’ll use your ring finger to gently dab your eye/lip cream around your eye and lip area.
- Can you really shrink your pores?
The short answer is no. You, unfortunately, cannot physically shrink pores but you can make them appear smaller to achieve visibly smoother skin. The good news is that the easiest way to make pores less apparent is fairly straightforward: keep them clean and clear by regularly exfoliating your skin so those tiny hair follicle openings don’t get clogged. This includes thoroughly cleansing in the morning, before bed, and after a workout (or other sweaty activities).

- How often should I exfoliate?
Traditionally, exfoliation is used as a treatment that is recommended only one to two times per week. That said, knowing the immense benefits of said treatment, I was inspired to turn it into a first of its kind exfoliating regimen (not treatment) that’s meant for daily use. The Reflekt system is unique because it was formulated with this in mind, which makes using it every morning and night ideal for optimal results. - Is it necessary to wash your face twice a day?
I’m a firm believer in washing your face twice daily. While the reason to do so before bed is a bit more obvious since you have to wash away the day’s bacteria, sweat, and makeup, it may not seem as clear for the morning. But overnight is actually when your skin is in its most reparative state, so you’re shedding extra dead skin cells while you sleep. Gross, I know. On top of needing to wash these away in the morning, you also want to rid your skin of any sweat or oils your body produced while you slumbered. Nobody wants to apply serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen over all of that potential buildup, right? I sure hope not!
TIP: Wash your pillowcases frequently to prevent dead skin cells and bacteria from getting on your clean skin.
