With World Environment Day (June 5) right around the corner, we’re reflecting on all the ways we strive to be as gentle on the planet as we are on your skin. Read on to unpack how we show up for the Earth every day through the sustainability efforts we’re proud to have prioritized from the very beginning.
We’re minimalists.
Less has always been more at Reflekt. We believe in quality over quantity, hence our simple yet effective four-step regimen that has everything you need and nothing you don’t. While a streamlined routine is ideal for saving time and money, it's also more sustainable. After all, minimalism requires less “stuff,” which naturally produces less trash and requires fewer shipments. It’s truly a win across the board.
We encourage larger orders.
Though free shipping on all orders is always a perk for our wallets, it’s a disservice to the world around us. That’s why we established a spend threshold that only allows for free shipping on orders over $50. By establishing this requirement, we hoped to encourage customers to place fewer small orders (individual products) and more large orders (multiple products). In doing so, this would help to decrease the number of shipments to a single address, thereby, lessening our carbon emissions overall.
We use zero extraneous packaging.
Consciously considering every part of our business meant also deliberately choosing the packaging that secures the goods in shipment. That’s why we chose to nix extraneous material, so you will never find excess plastic or packaging inside your Reflekt order. You’ll only ever see what is absolutely necessary to get your products securely to you. The kraft paper used to steady products inside the box is no exception as it’s an eco-material that can be recycled and, if burned, can actually generate energy.
We use only recyclable components.
Our founder, Nancy Schnoll, knew from day one that she would only use recyclable components for the formulas themselves. That’s why all are made of 100% recyclable plastic, so they won’t end up littering the planet or clogging up a landfill. To learn how to recycle your empty Reflekt products, watch Nancy explain here. In short, you’ll rinse each out after you’ve finished the last drop and dispose of them with your other recyclable plastics.
We use ingredients that are gentle on your skin and the planet.
Of course, what’s on the inside is arguably even more important than what’s on the outside, so Nancy refused to settle on any ingredient. No matter how much or how little is in our formulas, each ingredient is intentionally chosen for quality and efficacy to ensure you’re not only getting the best results, but that the products are gentle on your skin and the planet, too. And don’t worry! Even the physical beads in Reflekt 1 Daily Exfoliating Face Wash, our biodegradable jojoba esters, were carefully considered. They melt as you wash so they will never harm your skin or the environment. Plus, like all of our ingredients, they’re clean, vegan, and cruelty-free.
