5 Shocking Skincare Statistics That’ll Make You Rethink Your Regimen

We all have our skin concerns, but our biggest concern? The shocking skincare statistics revealed in a slew of recent studies. In fact, just when we thought we’d heard it all, they kept getting more surprising. Read on for some of the stats that were most jarring for us — they may have you rethinking your own skincare regimen.

1. 67% of women over 35 regret not starting a skincare routine earlier

According to a study, 96% of respondents had advice they would have told their younger selves. While 74% would have emphasized the importance of sunscreen and 49% would have encouraged themselves to invest in quality skincare, 67% would have simply encouraged their younger selves to begin using skincare at a younger age. We recommend everyone begins cleansing and using a face cream 1x daily at puberty. Then, at about 23 years old, increase this to 2x daily, plus incorporate a serum and eye cream. Sunscreen, of course, should be worn from infancy.

2. 80% of Americans are washing their faces incorrectly

While it may seem nearly impossible to not cleanse your face properly, this statistic proves otherwise. From washing with hot water, missing spots, not washing often enough, forgetting to exfoliate, and even not using the right cleanser for your skin type, people are making face washing mistakes. Learn more about how to avoid these face washing mistakes and more here.

3. 73% of women use skincare to reduce fine lines and wrinkles but only 15% believe those products work for that purpose

Despite a majority of women attempting to treat fine lines and wrinkles topically, merely 15% actually believe their products are effective in doing so. For some, this can be attributed to them being unaware of adequate ingredient solutions for these concerns. Hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, peptides, squalane, polyglutamic acid (PGA), and AHAs are some of our favorites, to name a few. In our regimen, these powerhouses work together to exfoliate and hydrate the skin at every step, leaving it dramatically smoother, plumper, firmer, and bouncier. Don’t take our word for it, though, we have proof to back it up.

4. Only about 13.5% of U.S. adults wear sunscreen daily

Despite 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation, only 13.5% of U.S. adults wear sunscreen daily. Before you step out into the sun each day unprotected, remember the fact that wearing SPF 15 or higher daily can result in up to a 50% reduction in skin cancer risk. Tack on the fact that the sun’s damaging rays can also cause premature signs of aging and there’s really no excuse to skip it if you want to maintain healthy, strong skin. In other words – your skincare regimen is incomplete without adequate sun protection.

5. On average, women spend more than 2.5 hours a week on their skincare routines with over 12 products daily

With an estimated 22.4 minutes spent daily on skincare, people should have plenty of time to properly wash their face, put on sunscreen, and reveal consistently smooth, bouncy skin. Instead, studies show that they’re rushing to use 12+ products without seeing actual results. It’s the very reason we believe in quality over quantity — so you can retire that ineffective 15-step regimen for a powerfully transformative four-step routine that’s proven to deliver results for every skin concern. Reclaim your time without sacrificing dramatic benefits.
